Here's all you need to know about the history of Mulberry silk

Silk was discovered in 2640 BC by the third wife of China's emperor.

As she was peacefully sipping tea beneath the shady canopy of a mulberry tree in the imperial garden, a tiny cocoon unexpectedly tumbled from the branches and landed gracefully in her cup of tea.

To her amazement, she witnessed the cocoon gradually unraveling, revealing a long, intricate thread of remarkable delicacy.

Fascinated by the unique properties and inherent strength of this fibre, she diligently gathered countless cocoons and skillfully wove their fibres into a robe for the Emperor.

Silk was valued by people all over the world, it was also used as currency. China started trading silk outside of Asia through an Asian network and of trade routes known as the silk road.
 In 202 BC, the Silk Road was opened, an ancient trade route, connected the two major civilizations of China and Rome. The word silk took about a thousand years to travel from China through Central Asia to Northern Europe. 

So, how do I know if my silk is real?

It can be tough to know if you're buying real silk before paying for it. But there are some easy ways to figure out if it's real silk or just a fake, made-up material.

Price
The easiest way to know if it's real silk is by the price. Good silk is usually expensive. Fake silk might be priced high, but if it's cheap, it's probably not real silk. Real silk costs at least ten times more to make than fake silk.

Resistance
Synthetic silk tears easily, but natural silk is very strong and hard to tear.
Try pulling a thread from the cloth and see if it gets fluffy. If it's natural silk, the thread will stay the same. But if it's synthetic, it will get fluffy.

Texture
Synthetic silk is very smooth and straight, but natural silk has some imperfections that show it's handmade. You can test silk by queezing it in your hand. Natural silk won't have creases, but synthetic silk will.

Gloss
To tell if silk is real or fake, look at how it looks in the light. Real silk has a bit of a shine, especially in the sun. Fake silk doesn't shine like that.

When creating a custom scarf design, the first thing to consider is the fabric for printing. There are many fabric options to choose from for your scarf.
You can use 100% natural fabrics like Silk, Cashmere, Merino Wool, Wool, Cotton. Or, you can choose semi-synthetic fabrics like modal.
Synthetic fabrics like polyester are also an option. Scarves made from natural fibers like Silk, Cashmere, and Cotton are very popular. A custom-made silk scarf is always a good choice.
Nowadays, Modal scarves are becoming more popular because they're easy to print and affordable. They look nice and have a subtle shine.

If you have your own designs:
The process all starts with the artwork supplied by the customer, which can either be digital artwork or if hand drawn, can be converted to digital format. This opens up endless options for the designer, offering the freedom to work with a broad colour palette, as designs can be printed with as many colours as required. Designs should typically be created to ensure that they can be repeated with a seamless finish, and without any borders or break lines.
For designs, we prefer files in .jpeg, .psd, .tiff, .Ai,  formats with at least 300 dpi.

 

 

Is the design simple or complex?

 

Next, think about how complex your design is.
Complexity means how many colors you use in your design. Look at your design and see if it uses solid colors or prints.
For example, if your design has eight colors, you'll need eight different silk screens. But silk screen printing is not very efficient these days. It takes a lot of time, and the more colors you use, the more it costs. 

So, most printed scarves these days use digital printing technology. It can use as many colors as you want and prints very quickly, up to 120 square meters per hour, with great quality.

Introduction	Printing is done on one side of the silk. The pigment penetrates from the front side to get to the reverse side.	The designs always print on both sides of the fabric, and can have the same pattern on both sides, which can completely solve the problem of inconsistent colors on the front and back of traditional printing methods.	Screen printing is the printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto scarves, except in areas made impermeableto the ink by a blocking stencil.

Making samples

1. The type of fabric for your scarf

2. The size and position of the design on the fabric. Remember to include the areas that will be cut off after printing.

3. The actual design with colors using pantone or CMYK codes.

4. The design file should be in .psd, .ai, .Tiff, or high-resolution .jpeg format.

5. Other options like woven labels or hang tags. Your brand logo in high resolution.

6. The number of scarves you want and when you need them.

Once you confirm, we'll make the samples as you specified and send them to you.

Figuring out the cost
The price of shawls and scarves depends on many things. For example:
The type of fabric and size of the scarf. A silk scarf will be more expensive than a cotton or modal one.
The printing technique used. Digital printing is cheaper than screen printing with many colors.
The number of scarves you order. If you don't meet the minimum order (usually 10 pieces), it will cost more.
Additional services like custom labels, packaging, gift boxes (if you want them).
